About The Event
Adopted in 1981 by the World Health Assembly, The International Code of Marketing Breast Milk Substitutes ("The Code") ensures the provision of safe and adequate nutrition for infants by protecting and promoting breastfeeding, while regulating the appropriate use of human milk substitutes when necessary, through responsible marketing and distribution practices. At this event, Breastfeeding researchers from across Canada will gather to discuss The Code, its status and importance to protecting breastfeeding in Canada.
We are pleased to welcome the following speakers to this event:
Isabelle Michaud-Letourneau, Adjunct Professor at Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health
Title: Translating the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes into national measures in nine countries
Dr. Laurie Twells, Professor in the Medical School at the Memorial University of Newfoundland
