About The Event

Canadian breastfeeding rates remain suboptimal. While over 90% of parents initiate breastfeeding nationally, only ~ 60% continue any breastfeeding to 6 months, and only 35% do so exclusively, as recommended. Breastfeeding rates vary widely across Canada and among populations leading to health inequities.

Exploring the diverse physical, sociocultural and environmental factors that impact breastfeeding as well as the interventions tailored to the needs of specific populations is needed to address these inequities.  This session will highlight the work being done by Canadian Researchers to address this important topic and protect, promote and support breastfeeding for all Canadian families.
